Heung-min Son has signed a new contract with Tottenham that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
The South Korea international has made 431 appearances and scored 169 goals across all competitions for Spurs since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015
Son, 32, has also gotten 125 goals and 68 assist in 320 premier league games.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has commended Son’s achievements in the club.
According to him, “He’s already had an outstanding career at this club”.
Son has a fantastic run in the clubs games , contributing either in scoring or assisting he has built a name for himself in the last 10 years, playing for the club and it’s remarkable to extend his stay .
Son was part of the Tottenham team that got knocked out in the final by Liverpool in 2019, that first time in the clubs history they played a champions league final.
Son, appointed club captain in August 2023, shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the 2021/22 season after netting 23 goals.
As the captain of South Korea, Son has earned 131 caps and scored 51 goals for his national team.
Tottenham Hotspur, sitting 12th position on the league table, has been known for their inability to win trophies and it’s unclear where the fault is coming from, as they’ve changed managers several times but they’ve not been able to end their drought of trophies.
Last season Tottenham lost their prolific and brilliant striker,Harry Kane to Bayern Munich due to the inability of the club to win something significant for a world class striker.
Questions begin to arise on Son’s decision to stay in the club for another year.
Has he made the right decision or he should he follow the footsteps of former teammate in moving to greener pastures?.
