The Red Devils made a shocking statement at Anfield on Sunday, ending a four game losing streak with a 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Another loss on Sunday at Anfield would have being disastrous. Prior to the match a lot of fans and critics didn’t see Man United going into the game and getting a positive result due to the present form of their opponent (Liverpool).
Many expected the game to be a smooth ride and an outright win for Liverpool, but Man United proved otherwise.
The match started on a tensed mood as expected of everyone, the second half ended in a 0-0 draw.
Lissandro Martinez scored a shocker goal when he got the ball at the back of the net in the 52nd minutes of the game, which Liverpool inturn responded swiftly pressing their attacking machineries on United’s defense. It took Liverpool seven minutes to equalize as Cody Gapko whipped the ball beyond Onana to balance the score sheet.
Struggle continued from both teams to score until Matthijs De ligt committed a foul In the box 18 yard, VAR did their check and it was declared a foul , hence a penalty given, which Mohammad Salah converted.
Immediately Liverpool started leading 2-1, it looked like all hope was lost for the Red Devils .
Coach Amorim of Man United made some game changing substitutions, taking out Kobbie Mainoo for Alejandro Garnacho, De ligt for Leny Yoro.
The subs came on the pitch and began work immediately, fortunately their hard work paid off as Garnacho of Man United made good assist which was swiftly knocked in by Amad Diallo leveling the score sheet for Man United.
Since December Amad Diallo had scored the 90th wining goal against Man City at Etihad and an 80th minute equalizer against Liverpool at Anfield.
Harry Maguire of Man United got a pass from Joshua Zirkzee in the late minute of the game in a bid to securing the 3 points for his team but missed the shot firing the ball over the bar .
The draw was needed for United to boost the teams confidence and bring the wining mentality back to the team.
Hope rises for Man United fan base. Watching them able to withstand the league title favorite and one of the strongest teams in the EPL is crystal clear that there’s hope for the team to be back to their best.
