A suspected serial motorcycle robber, Babalola Daniel, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command in connection with the murder of a motor cyclist, Opeyemi Oyelakin.

He was reported to have killed him and buried him in a shallow grave at Oke Igbo and took away his motorcycle.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect had killed four persons in various locations and stole their motorcycles,” Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said.

“In April, 2023, he killed a motorcyclist in Kabba, Kogi state and Ife along Ilesha road in Osun State, removed some part from the corpse for rituals.

“In June 2023, he killed another motorcyclist at Ondo town and dumped the corpse in a farm at Oboto bush along Bolorunduro road, Ondo town while in October, 2023 the suspect and one Sikiru Mutiu aka S.K deceived his childhood friend by name Joel Olagoke to take them with his motorcycle to a location where he was killed, his body dismembered and handed to herbalists; Mujeeb Lawal and Shina Ojo (both in police custody), for rituals.

“The motorcycle collected from Joel Olagoke was later recovered at Ibadan Oyo state from one Olayinka Abiola.

The duo of Abiola Olatunji Toheeb and Ayegbajeje Micheal who are receivers of stolen items and one Oyediran Waheed Olaitan who helps in the production of fake documents to aid the selling of the stolen motorcycles have been arrested.

“Seven (7) motorcycles have been retrieved from the receivers while one suspect is still at large.”

The Police have also arrested one Abdullahi Fatai, aged 30, for allegedly stabbing his wife to dead using a pair of scissors.

The deceased, Morenike Olayode, was a physically challenged person.

Preliminary investigations by the police reveal that the couple had several quarrels over attempt by the deceased to visit her child she had in her former marriage.

It was not clear if the suspect carried out the act due his fears she might leave him for her former husband.

Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, stated that co-tenants saw he couple in the morning of March 26, 2024, but by evening, the suspect raised the alarm that his wife was dead 

“The suspect, after killing the deceased, took pictures of the body  and locked the  corpse in the house till late night before raising an alarm,” police Spokesperson said.

“Further Investigation revealed that the deceased was an handicap, injuries suspected to have been caused by stabbing were found on her stomach and neck. 

“A scissors with blood stain suspected to have been used to perpetrate the act was recovered from the scene of incident.

“Suspect is in custody, he will soon have his day in court.”

The arrest of three suspected kidnappers at Ifon was effected, following the report of the kidnap of two persons and the death of woman on the 28th of March.

Police Detectives from the division in collaboration with local vigilantes arrested one Muhammad Bello, Muhammad Suraju and Suleiman Saliu.

“One of the victims identified two of the suspects as part of the people who kidnapped him and collected the sum of One million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (₦1,800,000) as ransom before he was released,” Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya said.

“The following items were found in possession of the suspects; Bags, rope, 2 wrappers, Indian hemp, rings and a motorcycle.”
