A two storey building has collapsed along Oyemekun Road by Adegbola, with many construction workers sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

Eyewitneses say maisons and other workers were on site carrying works on the building when it collapsed at about 3.30pm on Tuesday.

Videos from the scene showed sympathisers helping out with the rescue of those trapped in the building.

It was gathered that seven persons were removed from the rubble and taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The top and middle floors collapsed revealing the weaknesses of the rods and concrete used.‎‎

No deaths were reported as those trapped in the building were quicky rescued.‎‎

The state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sunday Olajide who spoke to journalists at the site, said an investigation will be conducted to ascertain both the immediate and long-term causes of the incident.‎‎

Mr Olajide also issued a stern warning to developers in the state about the use of substandard building materials, urging them to prioritize the safety of residents.

‎‎He called on developers to always secure the necessary permits and approvals before commencing construction projects.

‎‎He said the government has sealed off the construction site and would impose necessary sanctions based on the outcome of the investigation.
