‎Nigeria National Football League has reviewed the format of its competition, abolition the Super 8 Competition.
‎
‎In its steady the league body established an abridged league format of four conferences, declaring that teams topping each of the conferences will be promoted to the Premier League division.
‎
‎The decision was reached in Kaduna at the league’s 16th Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.
‎
‎In the communique issued after the meeting, the league body the league winner will be determined by a super 4 competition at the end of the season.
‎
‎It warned that any club that fails to participate in the super 4 would forfeit its place of promotion in the NPFL status to the 2nd Club on the table of such Conference. 
‎
‎The NNL Annual General Meeting approved Saturday day 8th November, 2025 as the kick-off date for the 2025/2026 NNL League season with a Star Match only. However, other Week One league matches are to be played on 14th, 15th, and 16th November, 2025 respectively at various venues. 
‎
‎Other crucial decisions reached by the AGM according to the communique, reads:

‎”The NNL Annual General Meeting agreed that only stadia that meet the required NNL Stadium facilities criteria shall be approved for the 2025/2026 League season. 
‎
‎”The NNL Annual General Meeting maintained that as part of registration criteria, Clubs must submit to the Secretariat of the Nigeria National League a copy of the insurance cover for their players and officials. 
‎
‎”The NNL Annual General Meeting approved and adopted the financial report and the 2024/2025 audited report of the Nigeria National League, and the budget for 2025/2026 League season as a working document. 
‎
‎”The AGM Approved that only Prostar/NNL branded match balls shall be used in the 2025/2026 league season. Failure of the home team to provide NNL/Prostar official match shall attract sanction. 
‎
‎”The AGM appreciated the various sponsorship moves so far made by the Board of the Nigeria National League, while praying that they shall come to fruition. 
‎
‎”The NNL Annual General Meeting passed a vote of explicit confidence on the Board of the Nigeria National League led by George Aluo for their achievements so far and for their resolve to continue to improve the standard of the League.”

‎The AGM also thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor Sen. Uba Sani, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the good people of Kaduna State for the successful hosting of the AGM. 
‎
‎The AGM also lauded the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the extraordinary ability he has employed to pilot the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation, and the entire NFF Board for their support and continuous guidance to make NNL the Most Important League in Nigeria.
