The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, elected on the platform of the Labour Party, Senator Neda Imasuen, is on his way to the ruling All Progressives Congress, reports say.
This is even as efforts by the Edo LP leaders to stop his defection failed to yield results.
Sources close to the Senator, who is chairman Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, say he is expected to defect next week Thursday.
According to the sources, Senator Imasuen has consulted widely with notable stakeholders in the Edo APC.
However, a member of the LP, Osifo Ighodalo, said the Labour Party they laboured to build was now a shadow of itself and in complete tatters both in Edo and at the national level owing to unending crisis and litigation.
”We are excited that our hard working Senator had finally made up his mind to dump the party,” he said.
“The rumour is true. Neda was with us today to inform us that he was moving us into APC. We understand and we are ready to go with him.”
