Many Nigerians are usually very upbeat about Easter and rightly so too. Easter is the commemoration of the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the grave unto heaven. I don’t know that Jesus Christ ever discussed with anyone to celebrate his Resurrection, but the world notes the stupendous, awe – inspiring event and insist to ensure it is never forgotten! So Easter therefore is about Christ. Again, rightly so!
It only follows logic that if something is about someone, it should please the beneficiary and honour him. For almost one week today, millions of Easter felicitation messages have been exchanged around the world. And Nigeria has had its fair share as usual. Is Christ happy? Is Christ honoured? Is Easter happening in Nigeria? To Nigerians? Christ lived a perfect life of Righteousness, Peace and Love and taught same with great earnestness. Then Christ concluded in the gospel according to St. John Chapter 14 and verse 15: “if you love me keep my Commandments “.
But the Political player and public office holder is one of those who sent the beautiful Easter message yesterday. May Easter remind his conscience that he is stealing poor tax payers money to give his family holidays abroad. That he has refused to do something about thousands being brutally murdered by hate agents. It’s not his business. That he cares nothing for his suffering neighbours. And that his neighbours are suffering because he is stealing their money.
May Easter remind the hypocritical University lecturer, who goes on TV to deploy theorems of governance model, but returns to campus to sexually assault teenage girls, only as a wicked emperor would do.
May Easter prick the consciences of our strange wives of today, who drag young men into debts just to have a “talk of the City” wedding, but returns to be a sexual plaything to sexual predators and birds of a feather with the lecherous wives.
May Easter tell the Olosho, prostitute that she has no justification for her sins, as her greed has deluded her to give as excuse. Because for every prostitute is a struggling young Nigeria girl labouring to earn respectable penny: selling pure water, working as house help, hawking bread, acting as bus conductor etc. Blessed souls. May Easter give them good husbands.
May Easter help us with courage to tell mandate thieves that every card received as felicitation for Easter is an exhibit of their thievery that will speak against them on judgement day. Jesus is the Judge on that day. Not the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja!
Finally, may Easter advise Pastor Enoch Adegboye on what to advise First Lady of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu to in turn advise the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu about how to be the President of Nigeria.
May Easter Happen to Nigeria. All this we pray in Jesus Christ name…Amen!
