The Gunners inflicted defeat on the blues on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium through the hands of Arsenal’s converted striker Mikel Merino in the 20th minute of the game, taking his team to 58points on the league table also moving them 12 point closer to Liverpool the league leaders.
Merino got his goal when the gunners got a corner kick advantage, which was brilliantly taken by Martin Odegard and left for Merino to convert .
The Gunners were in good control of the game pressing Chelsea’s defense in a bid to break through, but they faced heavy resistance.
Arsenal have been battling injury crisis, which have inflicted grievous setback to their performance lately.
When Kai Havertz Arsenal first choice striker succumbed to injury it was urgent that some one of good skills fill in the loop hole for Havertz, due to the injury of another prolific attacker Gabriel Jesus.
Arteta was able to scout Merino out and he’s been trying his best to get goals for his team.
Chelsea had a fair game as they were also without their first choice striker Nicholas Jackson . They had a good chance of equalizing when Marc Cucurella whipped a powerful shot towards David Raya of Arsenal,
Raya was able to get a touch on the ball but couldn’t get a grip, luckily the ball went past the post.
