It was a home win for Tottenham Hotspur as they defeated Manchester United making it the first time in their history they did the double against Manchester united “beating them home and away ”.
James Maddison of Tottenham gave his team the early lead , finishing a rebound from his team in the 13th minute of the first half giving his team lead advantage.
Tottenham also had extensive control the first half, Manchester united mainly relied on counter to play Tottenham.
Manchester United on the other hand had a shaky start.It took the red devils the fifteen minutes break for them to regain confidence and intensify pressure on their opponent.
They had problems trying to hold on the ball and keep possession. Lack of clinical attackers was also a major problem for Man-United, Alejandro Garnacho has a clear cut chance but couldn’t convert.
The Red devils came into the second half with energy and purpose which was lacking at the start of the game, unfortunately Tottenham defense seemed to be immune to the attacks despite intensified pressing.
Manchester united have moved to the 15th place on the league table, a miserable place for a team that use to once be the giants of the EPL.
Injuries have also taking its toll on the team as they they recently lost their prolific attacker Amad Diallo to an ankle ligament damage.
Amad is set to miss the remaining games in the season.
Both teams showed resilient spirit, especially the host, they showed confidence and really made it a hot space for their visitors.
Managers of both teams are passing through turbulent times, the game was a crucial for either to escape the tongue lashing from the media ,fans and critics. Ange Postecoglou escaped, leaving Amorim in the dungeon of critism and frustration from fans.
