Real Madrid secured victory at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, tightening the qualification race with the English side

City started the game on a very solid path, but things went south for the citizens when City’s winger, Jack Grealish was taken off due to injury and was substituted with Phil Foden.
Grealish was involved in the build up of city’s first goal in the game which Erling Haaland scored.
Real Madrid didn’t relent on their offensive on City’s defense, their intensity didn’t prove abortive as Kylian Mbappe Madrid’s no 9 equalized for his team balancing the score sheet.
City also upped their pressing intensity on Real Madrid’s defense in the process securing a penalty kick which Haaland converted.
The Spanish giants were not going to be intimidated, and retaliated through Brahim Diaz in the 86th minute of the game levelling the score sheet again for Real Madrid .
A draw would have been a good result due to the resilient spirit from both teams, but Real Madrid choose to perfect the game with a win as Jude Bellingham got a goal which was assisted by Vinicius Junior, to secure the win for R.Madrid.
The win is very crucial for Real Madrid as they have a goal advantage, it would really be a thug of war for Manchester City to overturn the result when they meet for the second leg in Santiago Banerbue Stadium.
The result at the Bernebue stadium would determine who would qualify for the next round of the champions league .
