Governors Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) will commence emergency on Friday(today) in Asaba the Delta State capital, where crucial issues relating to the future of the party and other national issues would be discussed.
As of Thursday evening, eight governors had arrived the Asaba.
The meeting is coming ahead of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting called by the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT).
It is also coming shortly after the party BOT meeting was disrupted by a clash of supporters over the secretaryship position of the party.
Host governor Sheriff Oborevwori hosted the governors to a dinner in preparation for the meeting.
Governors of Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Plateau, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Osun, Taraba, and Zamfara states are on the ground while the deputy governor of Oyo State is representing Governor Seyi Makinde. The Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, is also present.
In his opening speech, the Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of unity in Nigeria, urging everyone to ensure that unity is protected at all costs.
The meeting, convened by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, will focus on resolving internal conflicts, organizing the NEC meeting, addressing the National Secretary dispute, and reviewing the party’s state.
