The Gunner’s suffered a horrible defeat in the hands of the Red devils at the Emirates stadium following a dramatic 1-1 draw and a subsequent penalty shoot out.
Arsenal got knocked out at the convention and of the rounds of kicks.
The match started on a tense mood as both teams were going through turbulent moments.
Man United had been victory shy in their last five games. They have drawn one and lost four.
Arsenal on the other hand have been finding it hard to keep their wining form since they lost their talisman Bukayo Saka to injury.
The match also recorded heartbreaking injuries as Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal collided in an attempt to dispose the ball from Bruno Fernandes and had to be stretched out of the field.
Jesus’ injury is a big blow on the Arsenal team due to his sudden resurgence of form .
Man United open the scoring sheet as Bruno Fernandes got the ball at the back of the net in the 52 minute of second half.
Gabriel Magalhaes equalized to balance the score sheet in 63rd minute of the game.
The Gunners had the opportunity to win the game when Kai Havertz got a subtle tackle in the 18 yard box by Harry Maguire. It was declared a penalty by the refree which invited heated confrontations among players of both teams.
Maguire accusing Kai Havertz of foul play and diving .The altercation caused yellow cards for Maguire, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Martin Odegard took on the mantle to take the penalty but couldn’t get the ball into the net.
All efforts from both teams to score the wining goal proved abortive as the game went into extra time.
The Red devil converted their five penalties while the Gunners missed two penalty kicks giving Man United the victory advancing to the next round of the FA cup tournament.
