Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Toke Benson, has been shown in a video shared by Sahara Reporters to have slapped a man for recording her publicly.

The Commissioner was in the process of directing security operatives to remove someone from a facility when she noticed the man recording her actions.

Reacting to this, she attempted to seize the phone from the individual, which appeared to result in her slapping the man.

The commissioner who got up from her seat later approached the man and said ‘Maa fo phone owo e’ (I will smash the phone he is recording with’).

The man expressed his dissatisfaction and questioned the reason for the slap, while cautioning the commissioner not to repeat such behavior in the future.

An unidentified man was heard shouting ‘How dare you slap him?’.

But she has denied the allegation, saying she did not slap anyone.

In her reaction, the commissioner said she never slapped or physically assaulted anyone.

“No I slapped no one. Absolutely no one” she said.

The video has generated mixed reaction from netizens, as many are calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.
