The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the two time Heavyweight Champion of the world Anthony Joshua, as the torch bearer for the rescheduled National Sports Festival 2025.
Governor Dapo made this known while receiving the British-Nigerian in his office
In his words “I want to openly request that beside the fact that we are going to confirm you as our sports ambassador we want to invite you to the Gateway festival torch you would be lightning it up,”
The governor also promised to construct Anthony Joshua boxing ring stating it would be at the state capital to make it easily accessible for the boxing legend.
He (the governor) promised Joshua a house in Shagamu, admonishing Anthony Joshua to support the state in the area of sports development by working with the Director General of Sports in the state to take sports in the state to the next level.
Gov Dapo expressed his love and admiration for the heavyweight champion stating,he was proud of his achievements so far.
Joshua in response, promised to promote and showcase Ogun State to the world by scouting out talent’s in the state.
