The candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ondo polls, Agboola Ajayi, has expressed disappointment at the conduct of the election.

He criticised INEC over irregularities in the electoral process, citing vote buying and other manipulations.

The candidate who voted at his Apoi Ward 11, PU 004, at RCM Idumado Quarters Kiribo, in Ese Odo LGA, told journalists he not pleased with the electoral process.

“The system has been compromised, It’s sad INEC can’t conduct election well in one state,” he said

“BVAS aren’t working, it took about 10 minutes to capture me. I think it is deliberate on the part of INEC and the REC, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola and we’ve said this several times that the woman can’t be fair.

“I have had series of complaints from across the state, people are complaining of vote buying. It is a very shameful exercise.

“The system is not perfect, things are not working and it took more than 10 minutes before the BVAS could accredit me as the candidate of the PDP. There are lots of campaigns here and there across the state.

“If INEC cannot successfully organize election in just one state, then you must know that we are running into anarchy in Nigeria.

“I have been getting reports across the state and it is same, including me , I am a victim here in my unit and I want to say it is deliberate on the part of the REC and the INEC and don’t forget we have said earlier that we don’t trust Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola who is the REC ; she can’t be fair.

“The system is compromised and there are complaints everywhere in the state including vote-buying , BVAS not working and don’t forget the machine is a rigging tools for them. It is a very shameful exercise and I think Nigerians should just call on INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, if he can’t do the job, he should honorably resign because the system is totally compromised, this is sad.”

Mr Ajayi also noted that under Professor Jega as INEC chairman, the electoral process was getting to international standard but Mahmood Yakubu had taken it backward.

On the security situation, the PDP candidate said within his community, it was peaceful, even though he complained of over deployment military operatives, saying he would take it up with the Brigade Commander.

Mr Ajayi said the turn out of voters was impressive in spite of the alleged intimidation.
