A kidnapping syndicate that had been terrorising communities in Ikakumo Akoko, has apprehended by the Ondo State Security Network(Amotekun).
The syndicate comprising four persons, specialises in picking up well known residents, including farmers at gun point and demanding for ransom.
The suspects paraded by Amotekun on Monday are Usman Shehu, Ojo Ademola, Temidayo Samson, and Pelemo.
Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said the four suspects were assisting the agency in the search for other individuals involved in the crime.
barely two weeks ago a gang of kidnappers were apprehended by the corps while they were at the point of collecting a huge ransom for the release of their victims.
They were Umaru Mohammed and Ahmadu Illiyan.
Also in July, the corps arrested a number of suspects who were involved in kidnapping in Supare Akoko.
“We are parading 27 suspected criminals that engaged in various security breaches across Ondo State and across the board, I want to say that despite pockets of security breaches, the security situation of the state is good,” said Mr Adeleye.
“On the 27 suspects, we have Michael Ojo. You will recall that the last parade we did, we arrested one of the major members of a syndicate that specializes in killing Okana riders, robbing them, and some of them were at large.
“We went as far as Kogi and Edo, before we were able to track and arrest Michael Ojo who is here on parade.
“He has confessed to stealing so many motorcycles. He said he lost count of them and dispossessed them, dismantled them, takes them out of the state, as in pieces.
“He’s been engaging in it, according to him, in the last five years, but in the last one year, he intensified it because there is now pressure on Okada, and it’s now more expensive. So, he said that’s why he engages in such trade.
“He operates in Akure and moves to either Uso or Ogbese. He sells the bikes for N30,000, N50,000.”
One Akerele Ibrahim was also paraded after he was picked for threatening to kill a farmer in Akoko, after destroying his farm.
“We’ve been able to arrest him after evading arrest for so long, we have him here,” said Mr Adeleye.
The corps also arrested a serial breaker of the anti grazing law, Wakili Ibrahim. He had been arrested several times and the corps had decided to prosecute him this time for being unrepentant.
