Abayomi Monilari, has been reelected as President of the Ondo State Farmers Co gress and Chairman of the Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ondo State chapter.
Monilari is also a member of the Ondo State Agriculture and Food Security Committee.
His election was at the State Congress held on Saturday, 17th August, 2024 after polling 71 votes out of the 87 accredited voters.
He will be in the presiding over the affairs of the association in the next four years having received the mandate of the farmers across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Other elected state officers include Rev. Akinrogunde Olugbenga as Vice President, Hon. Afolabi Foluso as General Secretary, Alhaji Abdulazeez Akinbamiro as Asst. General Secretary, Mrs. Adu Cecilia as General Woman Leader, Mr. Akinrongbe Samuel as Youth in Agriculture, Mr. James Ojo as Organizing Secretary, Akinboboye Felix as PRO and Mr. Ezekiel Olu Ibitoye as Treasurer.
Others are Mr. Owoyemi Bamidele, Vice Chairman, Tree Crop, Chief Engr. Omope Oladipupo, Vice Chairman, Livestock, Mrs Adamolekun Florence, Vice Chairwoman on Arable, Mrs. Agboola Monisola Olusola, Financial Secretary, Mrs Iwabi Caroline, Asst. Financial Secretary, Mrs. Olajide Sabainah, Zonal Woman in Agriculture (2), Mrs. Afe Ebunoluwa Florence,
Zonal Women in Agriculture (1),Rev Ayegbongbon Akin Auditor and Chief Adekanye Clement as Ex-officio.
Speaking shortly after receiving his certificate of office, Mr Monilari thanked members most especially for reposing trust in his ability to continue the good work just as he assured that every member will be carried along.
He used the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of Ondo State government in combatting hunger in the land.
He said that Nigeria is presently fighting a silent civil war from hunger and that it behooves farmers to work hard and produce more food for the people.
On some of the laudable efforts of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in the development of the agricultural sector, Farmer Monilari said the government has provided farmers with about 750 hectares of land to plant for free free and also get a 25% discount on all other things that needs to be done on the land.
He however charged farmers to brace up for the task ahead.
‘The era of being political farmer is gone. We must all brace up and work hard. Government has done a lot for us and we need to reciprocate that gesture too”, he stressed.
He also thanked the observing team deployed from both federal and State ministries and parastatal to monitor the electioneering process.
The team was led by Mr Babasola Adeniyan, the Director of Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Akure office, who is also a Member of Agriculture and Food Security Committee, Ondo State and the immediate past Programme Manager, Ondo State Agricultural Development Programme.
