Dr Paul Akintelure

Leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress Olusola Oke, has suspended his campaign activities following the death of Dr Paul Akintelure, another aspirant who passed away in the early hours of Tuesday.

In a statement he personally signed, Chief Oke said he received the news of the passage of DPA with shock.

“The news of the death of Dr. Paul Akintelure came to me as a rude shock. Indeed, Nigeria, Ondo state and Igbotako town have lost a great gem,” he said.

“His passing is a further depletion of the clan of the finest in the politics of our country. He enriched politics with dignity and decency.

“He lived the life of a dove. Despite the adversarial nature of our politics, he never sought to offend anyone.

“I am, therefore, constrained by this sad event to suspend all my political activities in honour of our departed compatriot.

“Accordingly, the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation, in honour of his memory has announced the postponement of our campaign tours of Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th of March, 2024. New dates for the tours will be announced later.

“It is my prayer that the departed shall find repose in the bosom of the Lord Almighty.

“May God give all members of his immediate family, friends and political associates the fortitude to handle the great loss.”

Other aspirants have similarly followed Chief Oke in suspending campaigns ahead of the April 25 governorship primaries.

The aspirants include Wale Akinterinwa and Olugbenga Edema.
