There is apprehension at the secretariat of the Akure North Local Government Council, as it recorded the death of two of its chairman and vice chairman cobsecutively in one week.

Tragedy earlier struck last week when its executive Chairman, Ogbesetore Bankole, died after being Ill for a while.

He was immediately replaced by Vice Chairman, Anthony Adebusola, as Acting Chairman of the council.

But he died on Saturday, sending shocks and mourning across the local government area.

One of the political leaders in the area and former commissioner for Sports and Youth development, Saka Ogunleye confirmed the development.

“It is on a sad note, painful and pathetic that I’m here again to announce the tragic death of our council vice chairman Hon Anthony Adebusola,” Mr Ogunleye said.

“This unfortunate death occurred yesterday after a brief illness. Painful that we lost both our elected council chairman and his amiable loyal vice chairman within one week.

“Like a bad movie so sad a story. Ko ye mi oo. I urge you all to pray for us and the family members the two of them left behind.”

Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had paid a condolence visit to the residence of the late Chairman last week..

In the first instance, it was reported that the late Ogbesetore had been indisposed for over a year.

But his deputy, who passed away on Saturday, was not known to be sick.

Alex Kalejaiye, the Publicity Secretary for the All Progressives Congress in the state, confirmed the development.

He said Mr Adebusola died on Saturday, but his death was officially announced on Sunday.

“The leader of the council will take over the government as Acting Chairman, pending the election of a substantive one,” he said.
