The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed all commercial banks in the country to operate on Sunday.

This is to enable Nigerians who are yet to deposit their old naira notes in their accounts, to do so before the expiry date of 31 January 2023.

The banks had earlier been directed to open for customers on Saturdays.

The irony has been that the commercial banks have been dispensing old naira notes over the counter while limiting withdrawals from the ATM machines.

They have complained that they do not have enough of the new notes to meet the demands of customers.
