The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced 26th February 2022 as the date for the its National Convention.

The announcement was made by the Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi.

Mr Fayemi, who is the governor of Ekiti State, made the announcement after it was confirmed by the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, who is the Caretaker Chairman of the party.

Fayemi was addressing the National Women Convention of the APC on Tuesday in Abuja.

The party had been embroiled in a controversy as to the eligibility of the caretaker Committee in midwifing the various party elections especially in Ekiti and Osun.

Critics of the party leadership fear the outcomes might result in legal tussles that could truncate it’s electoral successes.

The convention would doubtless see the election of new leaders for the party.

Governor Fayemi had made a vague proposition on the date, when an aide to Buni whispered to him, after which he confirmed the date of 26th February.

Buni, who also addressed the convention, said APC as a party is the most women friendly party in Nigeria.

He said the APC- led administration through its various social investment programmes had promoted the welfare and well-being of Nigerian women.

The APC National Women Convention was attended by party women leaders across the country, Female Federal and State law makers, female cabinet members at the Federal and State level.
