Less than 24hours after personnel of the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure were withdrawn from all checkpoints in Ondo State, a group of 18 young men suspected to be bandits, were arrested in the state capital with guns, ammunition and other dangerous weapons.

The suspects were intercepted by Ondo State Security Network(Amotekun) in Ondo Town, after they initially evaded arrest along Ondo Road in Akure.

Upon arrest, they confessed that they were loaded in the buses by an unnamed persons from Katsina State and were told to drive to Akure in Ondo State.

The Amotekun Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeyeye, said in Akure on Friday that two other buses with unspecified number of men had escaped arrest and the corps was still trailing them.

When asked if it was not curious that the invaders came in a few hours after soldiers were withdrawn, he said it could not be linked as the police had replaced them.
