Not less than 13 persons have died of the dreaded Covid-19 virus, according to Saturday’s update of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).

It also confirmed 1,064 new cases in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This brings Nigeria’s infection figure to 186,635, while the fatality figure is now 2,260. 168, 320 cases have been discharged.

According to NCDC, Saturday’s figure includes tallies from Lagos for both Friday and Saturday while the figure from Benue State also comprisesbacklogs of records from July 27 to 31.

The number of active cases has also increased to 16,055 from less than 2,000 cases in June.

Based on the NCDC update, the combined data from Lagos State increased the state’s share of Saturday’s infection toll to 776 while Rivers, again, followed with 143 cases.

The other states include, Ekiti (49), Kwara (33) Ogun (21), Benue (18), Oyo (13), FCT (5), Osun (4) and Yobe (2).
