The police in Ekiti has confirmed yet another kidnap of a farmer in Ikole Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

This is coming barely 24 hours after a man was killed in Ekiti along with his wife and daughter after they were abducted by gunmen.

A family source confirmed to newsmen on Monday that the man was kidnapped on Sunday evening.

Some guests were also some days ago, attacked by gunmen  at Ayetoro Ekiti while returning from  a burial ceremony.

One person was killed and two persons abducted during the incident.

Sunday’s incident occurred inside a  farm located at Okejebu, Ikole Ekiti.

“The victim had gone to farm on Sunday  and when it was about 6pm,  we waited and expected that he ought to have returned, but we  didn’t see him,” the source said.

“We  started calling his phone lines to reach out to him, but no response until around 8pm when a call came in to demand for a sum of N5 million ransom.”

The family of the victim pleaded with security agents and relevant authorities to assist in rescuing the victim.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, Sunday, while confirming the incident said the farmer went to his farm on Sunday and never returned.

“We got an information that the old man went to farm on Sunday and never returned,” Mr Abutu said.

“We have been given information about his movement and our operatives are investigating the matter.

“We appeal to our people to be security conscious at all times.”
