Nigeria’s basketball team, D’Tigers, went on a faulty start on Sunday with their loss to Australia in their Group B opening game in the basketball event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

After a keenly contested game, D’Tigers were eventually humbled 84-67.

Although was a wobbling start by D’Tigers, they had a stronger finish in the first quarter which ended 23-23

Both teams made impressive efforts, but it was Australia who came tops at the end of the second quarter and edged it 20-17.

The Aussies kept their lead and went ahead to take the third quarter by 15-12 points heading into the fourth which they also took 26-15 for a total score of 84-67 points win.

D’Tigers will be walking a tight rope in an attempt to redeem their image when they encounter Germany in their second game.

Nigeria’s next opponent, Germany had earlier suffered a 92-82 defeat at the hands of Italy in Group B other game.
